Stephanie Shipley

Stephanie is a Singing Story Teller, who is a professional opera singer
with international experience. Stephanie is listed in the 2004 "National Register's
Who's Who in Executives and Professionals". Stephanie has been singing in public
since age three. She became professional on the
C.B.C. radio-TV at age fifteen and went on to sing with opera companies in
Vancouver, B.C., Seattle, San Francisco, Minneapolis, New York, and Toronto.
After studying at the Universities of British Columbia, Washington, Stanford,
and Minnesota with a voice major and sociology minor, she finished her Opera
Performance degree at the University of Toronto. She studied Eurhythmics
(learning music from inside the body) at the University of Toronto. Eurhythmics
was brought to Canada from Great Britain where it has been widely taught for
over half a century. |
Just Prior to leaving the theatre to raise a family, she did Ophelia
in the World Premiere in English of "Hamlet" with the composer and
Zerbinetta in the Canadian Premiere of "Ariadna auf Naxos." Since
leaving the theatre, her professional career has been on the concert stage in
Canada and the United States with recitals and a singing lecture "Music:
Reflection, and Prophet of Social Change." From this Musical Social
History lecture she has developed her program for children, "Musical
Calender Across the Curriculum," which she has taught pre-schoolers
through Grade six in Salem, Or. |
